Neopia is a wonderous planet, filled with blue waters, bright skies, and warm grass. Neopets of all different shapes, sizes, and colours blend together in perfect harmony and share the wealth of their glorious world.
Neopia is a community made up of millions of Neopets and humans, who interact with each other in countless ways. Games, chatting, shopping, auctions, you name it. Over the course of several years, Neopets.com has quickly grown from a small virtual pet site to the most popular internet community in the world.
It is also important to know that Neopia is guarded and maintained by a group of powerful Faeries, who always make sure that everything's running smoothly, and protect the planet from anything that might threaten it.
However...
Unbeknownst to the peaceful inhabitants of Neopia, there is a great evil lurking beyond the stars, waiting for his chance to rule the galaxy with an iron fist. His name is Dr. Frank Sloth. Dr. Sloth wants nothing more than to destroy the Neopets and conquer their world, all to satisfy his greed, his jealousy, and his desire to expand his Virtupets empire to every corner of the universe.
For years, Sloth has waged war with Neopia. And time and time again, the Neopets, along with the help of the mysterious Neopian faeries, thwart his plans of world domination. But as time goes on, Sloth's attacks become faster, deadlier, and more aggressive.
1st Attack - Virtupets Space Station
Way back in Neopia's Year 2, the people of Neopia were shocked by the appearance of a giant space station in the sky. It hovered ominously above their world, and many feared that the end was near.
This space station was, in fact, Dr. Sloth's Virtupets Orbital Space Station. In order to build it, Sloth first payed a visit to a distant alien planet called Doran. The Grundos, a local race of aliens, were kidnapped by Sloth. Using a secret formula known as the Transmogrification Potion, he turned the Grundos into mindless mutants and forced them to do his evil bidding.
Meanwhile, the Space Faerie, Neopia's guardian of the stars, became weakened from Sloth's sudden appearance. She pleaded with the Neopians to help her rescue the Grundos and stop Dr. Sloth from turning every Neopet into a mutant.
Eventually, most of the Grundos were freed from Sloth's control and "de-transmogrified" into normal Grundos. But the massive rescue cost valueble time. Dr. Sloth was mere seconds from firing his huge mutation ray at Neopia, when the Space Faerie made a last-ditch effort, and cast a magic spell that reflected the ray back at Sloth's space station, destroying it.
2nd Attack - The Lost Desert
During his second invasion attempt, Dr. Sloth learned of an ancient artifact, called the Lucky Coin, that gave extreme luck to whoever wielded it. Unfortunately for him, the coin was in the possession of a card player named Brucey.
With the help of his henchmen, Sloth lured Brucey into a trap. One of his minions, a sinister Jetsam, invited Brucey to play a special card game in Neopia Central. Brucey knew that, with his Lucky Coin, he would never lose, so he accepted. But, he did lose, and his coin was taken away from him.
With the Lucky Coin in his possession, Dr. Sloth and his army of mutant Grundos marched to the Lost Desert. Sloth had heard legends of a powerful weapon, hidden deep within the pyramids of the desert. After a great deal of brainstorming, Sloth figured out how to gain access to the hidden tomb; the Lucky Coin was actually a key.
Sloth marched into the tomb, and found what he was looking for. It was an ancient sceptre of great magical power. With his new toy in hand, he marched to the nearby city of Sakhmet and wrecked havoc with his army. He even cast a spell to summon an enormous Rock Beast.
However, what he didn't realize was that Brucey had been adventuring through Neopia, and discovered Sloth's plans. And, he wasn't alone. Brucey had recruited a massive army himself, which consisted of Neopia's strongest warriors and heroes. Sloth's artifact was destroyed, and he retreated into the depths of space once again.
3rd Attack - Kreludor
The staff at Neopets.com were planning to begin a new Sloth plot in the summer of 2004, entitled "The Return of Dr. Sloth", which was to follow the release of their newest Trading Card Game expansion set of the same theme. However, due to some problems, it was never finished. Although, I believe that one day, they will continue it, and it will be, without a doubt, Sloth's deadliest attack yet. Bwahahaha...
